Isopia couldn't help but feel rather ... listless. Although she had duties and obligations within her new herd, she'd actually completed or discharged most of them. Things with Volterra were still...weird, she hadn't seen Zero in a while, Ros and Aithniel were sort of away, and although she saw Mesec often enough in the edge, he had kids, and that was still sort of strange to her (despite the fact that out of the four of them, technically she'd given birth first). Kaos stuff was happening and yet...she still felt empty. Without purpose.

So she did something rather uncharacteristic: she decided to let her overly active mind rest and work her body instead.

The fields stretched out before her, a sea of greens dotted with the rainbow buds of a million different flowers. A warm breeze caused waves of grass to billow, making the sweet scent of clover waft towards her every now and then. The sun was high above, and already the parts of her body covered by her cloak were beginning to sweat, but she didn't mind.

"I am here to spar!" She called loudly, spinning around so that her golden eyes could survey the area for an opponent. At her side, Babel and Hubris searched to see if anyone would answer the call as well. If Iso's opponent had a companion, perhaps they would insert themselves into the spar. If not, they'd likely just sit on the sidelines amusing themselves until their bonded was done with her training.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE WILD THINGS GO?

Having come directly from his meeting with the Sun God, Reichenbach was feeling quite pleased with himself. His wounds were completely healed and he felt vital and strong thanks to the warm wave of wind his deity had blessed him with, so instead of heading directly back to the Throat, he chose to wander. It had always been pleasing to him, to tread without direction, the only company being those he stumbled across - though sometimes just the simple jangle of his gypsy coins was enough to keep him company as his heart chose which direction to step. Today he trod happily toward the Heavenly Fields, silver eyes bright with an eagerness to reach the pretty little spot and perhaps strike up a conversation with whoever might be lingering there. The sun was pleasant upon his mahogany back, bringing out the russet tones to his simple, dark coat and shining upon the ebony curls that caused him such nuisance.

"I am here to spar!"

Came the elegant call, causing Reich to sweep his long lashed eyes across the field in surprise until they settled on the dainty figure of Isopia. He hadn't met the Mountain, but had heard rumours of her impressive appearance. The rumours did not lie - Reichenbach allowed himself to stare unabashed at her wingspan and markings, the delicate line of her cheekbone and jaw, even her handsome crimson cloak. If a spar was what she was searching for... well, he'd been fully healed by the Sun God, so why not? Also this presented a wonderful opportunity to meet the Worlds Edge Seer. "I will spar with you!" He called out, the musical tones in his baritone voice lilting and swelling beautifully despite the simple sentence.

Reich wasted no time, throwing himself into a swift canter toward his winged opponent. Having seen how much of an advantage having wings had been for Pip, he didn't want to see exactly how much of an advantage it could be for Isopia. The muscles in his shoulders and haunches rippled and strained as he bounded forward, leaping toward the Seer with teeth bared and his front hooves raised in an attempt to both bite at her neck and slam his hefty hooves down on her wing-joint. If he could injure her wings it might even the playing field a little.

isopia

The words which floated across the prismatic field were not the gruff response of a warrior, as Isopia had assumed that they would be, but something more akin to the sing-song lilt of a minstrel. She turned immediately towards the handsome figure of Reichenbach, a stallion she'd never met, though one she was almost sure she passed by during that bizarre night in the grove during all those random pairings.

Isopia held no pretense of honour during spars, like the Gaucho's of the world once did. Others might have precluded the use of wings or horns if their opponents had none, and forced themselves into a handicap to even the playing field. Isopia held herself to no such standards. It was Hubris and Babel's choice to sit on the sidelines (presumably because Hubris didn't much care for battle, and Babel was still too young), but Isopia felt no need to lessen herself just to raise her opponent's chances of besting her.

And so, as he raced across the fields towards her, muscles rippling luxuriously beneath the sun and his multi-hued coat, Isopia simply took to the air. Although Reich's long strides pulled him towards her efficiently, there was more than enough distance between the two for Isopia to take a few swift steps in his direction and lunge into the air. Her cape fluttered like a crimson third wing behind her as she sailed effortlessly above him.

Her 'flight' was more like an elongated jump as Isopia angled her long and slender body in an arc, so as to land only a handful of feet behind where Reich had lunged towards her. Spinning on her long legs, she spun around to face him. For all the social cues that Isopia was ignorant of, she was clever enough to have picked up on the fact that most stallions don't usually like being so easily evaded. Then again, perhaps Reichenbach shouldn't be categorized with most stallions. After all, most stallions didn't have such a lovely voice.

Not the ones she associated with anyways.

"I suppose that wasn't entirely fair of me." She called out to him, her voice sterile and academic; a dissonant harmony to his melodic one. Reaching into herself to the spring of magic that bubbled inside of her bones, Isopia created a dragon out of the earth before her. It was only about the size of a small dog, but it flew on granite wings towards the warrior, aiming to impact the left side of his shoulder.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE WILD THINGS GO?

Too late, he leaped, and too late his teeth snapped... On empty air as Isopia performed one of the most elegant, exquisite leaps he'd ever seen, aided by those troublesome wings. Her flight was rhythmic and graceful, the flutter and snap of her crimson cloak only adding to the vision as he followed her path with disbelieving eyes. The earth came rushing toward him and once again, too late, he realised that he was going to land badly. Very badly. Indeed when he hit the ground his right fetlock crumpled a little, bending at quite the odd angle and sending strands of pain twanging upward as he struggled to maintain balance after such a strong leap, his haunches straining and pulling as he turned in a cloud of dust and grass seeds to watch Isopia land daintily only a few feet from him. Pulling his lips into a disappointed snarl, Reich once again began to feel the tremors of temper that he so often had difficulty controlling. "I suppose that wasn't entirely fair of me" came the wise, cool reply. Reich couldn't help it: he laughed. "I suppose not... but if I had wings, I wouldn't be hanging around on the ground either-"

A dragon made of rock soared toward him on swift wings, causing Reich to jump aside swiftly mid-sentence. He grinned, raising his brows in a jovial challenge as the dragon soared past his bulky mahogany shoulder, dancing on his two hind hooves in a half-rear as he avoided placing too much pressure on his painful right forefoot. "Now that was cheeky!" He carolled, testing the potential sprain subtly before slipping closer to his well-trained opponent, silver eyes both sharply intent and bright with buoyant curiosity. Isopia was a considerably strong fighter, something that went to show that you didn't have to be named warrior to actually be one. It was something Reich wholeheartedly agreed with, having Pippigrin as a best friend meant he got to see a fair amount of discrimination against the hobbits small size - there were those that thought he couldn't, or shouldn't, have the position he did despite the little warriors battle skills. The same could be said of Isopia - she was the World's Edge Seer, not their Gladiator, yet here she was... as fierce an opponent as the strongest of the Throat's warriors. He liked that. He liked that a lot.

So it was with pleasure and a keenness in his blood that Reich surged forward, aiming to slam his strong shoulder against Isopia and throw her off balance or simply bruise her. Simultaneously, he bared his capable teeth and tried to latch onto her slim neck, hoping to get a solid hold so that he could anchor himself and shake the Seer roughly.

isopia

As Reich easily side-stepped the dragon, a move that the demi-goddess hadn't been anticipating (she actually couldn't recall a time when such an attack had missed), the rock creature, without additional input from its creator, defaulted to the whims of physics and soared downwards in an arc. Directly towards Hubris and Babel.

Although Babel was watching the fight with rapt attention, it had never occurred to him that he could be engaged with the battle if he didn't voluntarily do so. So even as the granite facsimile of himself glided nearer and nearer, no panic bubbled in his small golden chest. It did in Hubris' however. The bronze trilled a note of alarm, but it came too late. Isopia had already lost her grip on the magical structure and could do nothing but watch as Hubris was forced to sacrifice himself for his smaller brother. With a shove, Hubris knocked Babel out of the path of the rock dragon just in time. Stone hit the older dragon's bronzey shoulder, sending him head over tail backwards in a clumsy and unplanned summersault. Isopia could feel pain ricocheting out of his small body as he finally came to a stop. Gently Hubris reached to his shoulder trying to identify if the rock had broken a bone or merely sprained it. Blood dripped in crimson tributaries down his bronzey shoulder and side. Heaving a breath, the dragon tried to give a trill to indicate to Isopia that he was okay, but found that the air was firmly knocked out of his system. With a hideous interest, Babel stood over Hubris, merely staring down at him with wide interested black eyes, offering no assistance

I didn't intend- Isopia began, as Reich offered a few mocking words her way. >>I know. It fine.<< Came Hubris' strained response.

Before Isopia could consider her actions further, the stallion was making his way towards her. Despite the fact that her actions had stupidly injured her companion, the demi-goddess felt no additional emotions rise up inside of her. She had been foolish, that was clear, but Isopia was not necessarily the type to allow her actions to permeate into her mental states. And so whereas others might have met Reich's attack with renewed vigour and strength, Isopia did not.

She felt the stallion's powerful shoulder collide with her own, and although she was larger than he was, Isopia could feel herself being pushed to the right as a flare of pain screamed out from her left shoulder. Almost simultaneously she felt teeth against her neck and distantly wondered if he'd break the golden chains that her father had given her so long ago. She didn't particularly care whether or not he did, but the thought blossomed in her mind none the less.

Rather than pulling away from the blunt pinch of his teeth, Isopia tried to halt her right-ward movement and thrust herself back against Reich. She hoped to jar his neck upwards painfully, should he still be biting her neck. Perhaps she'd even bloody his nose. Her shoulder sent a rocket of pain directly towards her mind wanting to resist this, but Isopia continued to force her body to the left. Then, trying to turn her long-legged backside in Reich's direction, she allowed her magically-shoed hindlegs to shoot out behind her, attempting to find the warrior's flank or his own hindquarter.

"No, that's cheeky." Isopia retorted, hoping that when she turned she would find two semi-circle imprints on Reich's butt.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE WILD THINGS GO?

Completely unaware of the unfortunate commotion happening behind him, Reich felt both overjoyed and ever so slightly guilty as he collided with Isopia. His first thought was that she was strong, incredibly so, for hitting her felt like running head-on into a wall of granite - and his second was that despite her demi-god status, she took hits like everyone else. The scrabble of his teeth upon her neck occurred just as it would in any other fight, and when his teeth finally did get a hold upon her muscled neck, his teeth pinched and held just as they had many times before. He grinned around the mouthful of flesh, beginning to anchor himself in the ground as Isopia shoved.

Her strength shone again as she pushed back against him savagely, cricking his neck at an odd angle and smacking him straight in the nose. Reich emitted a rough grunt, pulling back instantly as his nose tingled and eyes watered, though he was more concerned with the soreness that came with moving his cricked neck. He blinked rapidly, trying to clear his watery gaze quickly - what a terrible time to have impaired vision! He could taste blood in his throat, assumedly from his nose, and bared his teeth in a somewhat good natured grimace (though his good nature was quickly descending into temper) before dancing about on his hooves, attempting to reposition himself as - Isopia's magically-shoed hooves connected with his hindquarters. A grunt of surprise and pain left his throat instantly as he stumbled forward a little, whipping his head about swiftly to keep the Seer in his vision. Whatever those horseshoes were made out of, they did more damage than any ordinary pair of hooves, Reich could feel the bruise beginning to spread already. He huffed, maintaining his good mood despite the soreness in his rump.

Without anything smart to say, he simply danced about to face his opponent again. Shifting on the spot (much to the irritation of his bruised rump), Reich considered tackling Isopia head on - but Gods, was she tall! Instead, he darted forward and attempted to pass her on swift legs, kicking out with his hind legs as he did so, aiming to smack her in the jaw with his solid hind hooves.

Isopia can feel the satisfying absorption as her hooves strike Reich. Though she can't tell precisely where she has hit, she assumes her accuracy has been more or less apt. Though she doesn't revel in his grunt of pain, it does confirm that from a strategic point of view, she has been successful.

As the stallion turns about to face her, she assumes that he'll offer her some witty rejoinder about some body part or another that has been or hit, or will be hit during the course of their spar, but he doesn't. Instead, he simply comes straight towards her.

Isopia is not master strategist, but what she has learned of battle suggests that, given he has not used magic against her yet, that he probably has none to use. Without a horn or wings, all he has at his disposal is his body, which is coming nearer and nearer to hers every moment. Understanding this in hardly more than the blink of an eye, Isopia does something some might call less than sportsman-like.

She tries to trip him.

Although Isopia is large, she has worked hard to make herself as nubile and light on her feet as possible. Given that Reich turned to face her before charging her way, she had more than enough time to once again evade his attack, although this time without the use of her wings. As she slipped by him, she reached out with magic to create a barrier of earth - about knee-high - and tried to raise it in front of him. Her goal was to place it close enough to him that he wouldn't be able to see it and simply leap over it (for it wasn't that high), but that he would instead trip over it in his haste, or annoyance at having missed her once again.

"I don't believe I caught your name-" She called after him, her voice sterile and academic as always.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE WILD THINGS GO?

The sore muscles of his hind legs were complaining all too much for Reich's happiness as he surged forward, a wall of muscle and power - and yet a wall that still stood shorter than his long legged opponent. His nose had begun to drip with crimson blood and it ached constantly, an irritation that was difficult to ignore as he bounded forward. He was nimble and sure on his feet, fumbling and stumbling was never an option for the grace-bound son of the desert... until it was. How could he have forgotten so soon the abilities that Isopia grasped in her powerful hands? A barrier of earth rose almost underneath him and in a move that would have looked excellent in slow motion - Reich fell. His forelegs tapped the tip of the earth wall and the rest of him followed, crumpling bit by bit. His front legs folded and he was sent barreling into the earth of the Heavenly Fields in a mess of ebony curls, jangling coins and bruised skin. Thankfully he'd had the sense to strain his already painful neck upward to avoid landing on his face, though his chin had slammed rather poetically into the ground - consequently rattling every tooth he owned.

However, it was not his mouth he was worried about, his chest having slammed and slid upon the grass, leaving a hefty, dirt-ridden path behind him. Silence fell as he lay there, gasping, heaving, blinking.

A croaky laugh escaped his lips, the only evidence that he was alive and well. Slowly, slowly, he raised his tender body from the earth. His knees were a mess of grass stains, dirt and grazes, and his chest hadn't fared much better - though they didn't look like much, the grazes upon his chest and chin stung and his ribs ached from the collision. With a final, tender shake Reich tossed his head upward and toward Isopia "Reichenbach" was his choked answer, a bloody grin accompanying his name. After a few moments he began to walk delicately toward her, wryly taking in her almost perfect frame - they both knew who had come off worse in this fight.

"I would say it's been a pleasure but.... ah well, it HAS been a pleasure getting my ass kicked by you, Isopia of the Edge" a rough laugh found its way out through the soreness in his chest.
